Set in a Georgian family home, this bathroom was a originally the family bathroom. Over the years it had been turned into a very large shower room, so the clients wanted to change it back to its original use to make more of the space, include a bath and a shower, and accentuate the room’s original features.
The original sash windows had been lovingly restored and the pine cabinet had been stripped back from layers of paint to its original glory. The Georgian floorboards were used to make the shelves inside and the ancient water tank inside it was removed and put in the attic to allow for extra storage.
The traditional bath and sink were updated with Honed Brazilian Black Slate floor tiles. The bath underside, claw feet and skirting were painted with Farrow and Ball “Off Black” to complement the tiles. A small separate shower was placed in the corner for practicality and to allow the bath to shine in its original spot.
A beautiful mural was put in place above the bath to bring the room together. A modern mirror is placed directly opposite the mural and the room creates a perfect harmony of traditional and contemporary.
